Last week I took a little visit to Saint Aymes; London’s newest most picturesque cafe and the most magical little whimsical wonderland. It’s truly a dream cafe which whisks you away into your own little fairytale and makes you forget that you’re actually in central London. Not only does it look picture perfect, but the staff were also so lovely and welcoming, made us feel comfotable about snapping photos, and made our experience there a pleasant one!
I was a little gutted as I somehow forgot to put the battery in my camera (face plant!) so these are just iPhone snaps, and the weather on the day I visited was truly awful, it was so gloomy, drizzly and overcast and basically a photographers nightmare (haha), so I do apologise if these aren’t the greatest quality photos, but I thought it would be a waste not to share them anyway and I hope you still enjoy them! At least it gives me an excuse to return…
As you approach Saint Aymes you’ll realise it’s impossble to miss as the store front is like something out of an Alice In Wonderland storybook, don’t you just love it when the exterior is just as gorgeous as the interior?! I adore the duck egg blue exterior, paired with the whimsical checkered tiles, golden logo, and of course the beautiful cascading purple wisteria which frames the windows making it look so magical. Outside is lined with delicate vintage style tables and chairs, which would be the perfect little brunch spot on a sunny day, and also makes for an ideal place to pose for an Instagram photo if that’s your kinda thing.
The inside decor is like a fairytale dream, with pretty pink and white flower walls decorating the spaces on every which way, blush pink walls, opulent vintage style furniture and white marble tables. One of the inspirations for the decor inside was Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel, which I hadn’t watched prior to my visit but I was since inspired to give the film a watch and I loved it, it’s a visual masterpiece much like the cafe.
I opted for the 23CT Gold Unicorn Latte, in pink of course although they do come in a variety of other pastel shades. It had whipped cream, marshmallows and real gold leaf sprinkled on top, and I can tell you now that it tasted just as good as it looks! We also shared raspberry macarons and their signiature Marie Antoinette chocolate – pink pyramids of cookies and cream white chocolate, decorated with real 23CT gold; a truly decadent treat!
Even though the cafe appears to be quite little from the outside, don’t fear about getting a table as there are plenty of seating areas, lots of room and even a downstairs area. On the ground floor there are tables next to one of the flower walls, a sofa area with a pink velvet chaise lounge and a bar with stools. The downstairs seating area is just as cute as the top level, it has multiple flower walls, more tables and chairs as well as two sofa areas with flower wall backdrops for those picture perfect moments. Even the stairway to the lower area is gorgeous and adorned with pretty flowers, have you ever seen a bannister looking so cute?! It’s like stepping down into a secret garden!
Everything was served on cute duck egg blue chinaware, with gold cutlery and the red velvet cake of the day was delicious. They also have fresh cupcakes and I have spotted adorable unicorn cookies on their Instagram which unfortunately weren’t there when I popped in but look super cute!
Hollywood icon and queen Audrey Hepburn is another clear inspiration, much to every Audrey fan’s delight! Her classic Vogue covers graced the pink walls aboved the plush green velvet seating area, in delicate gold frames.
Have you visited this magical little spot yet?
