In A Cookie Cutter World, Be A Macaron…
Stepping into a Maison Ladurée patisserie is like entering an enchanting Parisian inspired dreamland where the likes of Blair Waldorf and friends come in their finery to eat decadent treats, and sip Marie Antoinette flavoured tea from pastel coloured chinaware. Dining at Ladurée will make you feel like French royalty as it’s so feminine and luxurious, it’s the perfect place to pop in with your fellow princesses for a little taste of Paris in the heart of London.
Having visited a Ladurée cafe in Paris, as well as two in London; Harrods and Covent Garden, this time myself and my pink twinny Freya popped into the patisserie in Burlington Arcade, Mayfair. It was small but charming, and whilst it didn’t quite have the large scale grandeur of the Harrods tearoom (if you’ve ever had the pleasure to visit that one you’ll know what I mean), it was still totally beautiful and regal in it’s own right, and has become my favourite Ladurée to visit!
We had opulent sweet treats and of course we couldn’t resist but to choose the pink creations. Mine was called La Fleur which was presented so perfectly in the shape of a delicate flower. It had a soft rose biscuit with almond shortbread, topped with rose mousse and raspberry confit. A true delight.
Macarons are one of my favourite little indulgences, and a Ladurée visit without them just isn’t the same! So it was only right that we shared some of their famous macarons, in delicious Vanilla and Geranium flavours.
The decor inside the store was dressed from floor to ceiling in gold, which made it look like a little golden cave filled with macaron treasures! It was so unique and definitely worth paying a visit just to take a peek. The location was peaceful and quiet, and despite there only being a couple of tables to sit, (pretty marble ones to be exact) we still got seated easily. If you like to snap bright and beautiful photos then you’re in luck as the lighting there is just lovely and perfect for capturing your treats in all of their princessy glory.
If you have an eye for princessy delights and a sweet tooth for pretty Parisian confectionary, then I’d definitely recommend paying a visit!
