Taking on a starring role in this year’s Too Faced holiday collection is the ever so charming Under The Christmas Tree gift set, which contains a beautiful set of three breakaway palettes that form a darling little pink Christmas tree full of pretty treats.
As with all Too Faced products, the set is presented oh so perfectly inside a magical pink grande theatre style box. Romantic pink and gold curtains are drawn back to unveil the festive palette standing centre stage inside, as well as a miniature version of the best-selling Better Than Sex mascara which is a lovely one for voluminous, fluttery lashes.
The set has gorgeous velvety packaging adorned with tiny gold stars which feels and looks so luxurious, and the soft candy pink shade makes it all the more cutesy and feminine. Each palette opens out to reveal a pastel nutcracker-esque illustration in the form of little white rabbits, snowy swans and dashing squirrels all in mint green, soft pink and delicate lavender shades. Not only are the illustrations so delightfully adorable, but the design of the palette is so unique and I love how each palette is magnetised so that they slot back together in exactly the right place.
Inside each palette is an array of gorgeous eyeshadows and face powders, all in dazzling neutral shades with a few pops of colour that are sure to keep you sparkling throughout the festive season. I love how pretty and wearable the colour range is, so I know I’ll get be getting lots of use out of it. The third and largest palette is my personal favourite with a dreamy colour selection of mauve pinks to chocolatey bronzes, and a gorgeous sparkling winter blue.
As always, each shade has had an utterly adorable festive name dreamed up for it, but I do wish that they were written on the actual palette instead of on the plastic cover which I don’t usually keep. When you have names as cute as Wishes & Kisses, Vanilla Snow, Angel Kisses, and Dream Come True you want to cherish them forever!
Most of the shades in each palette are lovely and creamy, apply beautifully and have rich pigmentation, especially the shimmer shades which are just stunning, although there are a few matte shades that have weak colour pay-off. I do wish the same standard was seen across the whole set but it certainly doesn’t tarnish my love for it! The stand out shades for me are: Starlight; a golden caramel bronze, Unicorns Pull My Sleigh; a glistening rose gold, Kiss For Santa: a smooth cranberry brown, Dream It Believe It; a shimmering chocolate, Angel Kisses: a golden champagne and Oh What Fun; a glittering silvery blue with pink sparkles.
For me, the charming packaging is what makes this set so special and unique, which I think makes it worth it as it really is a lovely little keepsake gift, and it will undoubtedly be a delightful little set to find underneath your own Christmas tree this holiday season.
