Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet & so are you
I’m bringing a sprinkling of Valentine’s Day sweetness to today’s post, with a cute and girly recipe for these heart shaped Rice Krispie Treats dipped in white chocolate. They are super simple to make and only require a few ingredients but I think they look really effective and taste yummy. Perfect for a sweet valentines treat!
I was inspired by this recipe, but I tried my best to convert everything to UK measurements!
Ingredients:
~ 40 Regular Marshmallows ~ 300g
~ 50g Butter
~ 170g Rice Krispies
~ 150g Candy Melts or White Chocolate
~ Red Food Colouring

Directions:
~ Melt the butter in a large saucepan on a low heat.
~ Once the butter has melted, add in the marshmallows and keeping stirring until they have melted.
~ Add the Rice Krispies into the mixture and mix well until they are all fully coated.
~ Transfer the mixture into a baking pan, the quicker the better as it gets extra sticky as the mixture begins to cool. Tip: use a lightly buttered spoon to smooth over the top and compress the mixture.
~ Leave to cool, I chilled mine in the fridge for a couple of hours.
~ Use a heart shaped cutter to cut out sweetheart shapes. Use a smaller heart cutter on any leftover areas to use up the rest of the mixture.
~ Melt the candy melts or white chocolate in the microwave in 30 second bursts, stirring in between until fully melted. Add a tiny drop of red food colouring to make a pale pink, save a little uncoloured for the drizzle.
~ Dip the hearts into the pink chocolate, covering half of them.
~ Pop the white chocolate into a small piping bag or zip lock bag and snip a small hole into the end. Drizzle diagonally over your hearts for a fancy effect and leave to harden.
~ Enjoy your treats! ♥
They’d also look lovely dusted with twinkly glitter or you could get creative and add some sprinkles. You could even pop lollipop sticks into them for a cute effect.
I think they make for a really sweet gift to give your loved ones for a little valentines treat. To present them perfectly, place them into a cellophane bag and tie with a pretty ribbon.
Wishing you the sweetest Valentine’s Day!
